Great way to upgrade the functionality of the car without huge expense!

The instructions for the installation process, both in the manual and on the web were easy to follow. I would strongly recommend getting plastic trim prising tools beforehand to avoid damaging the BMW panels, and it makes the job much easier, suitable kits are available on Amazon for around £15 per set.
Having removed the ignition key prior to fitting the device, I plugged it in again and the system came to life straight away. A few simple setting changes got the icon showing which doors were open working correctly. Also it was simple to get my Android phone and my wife's iPhone connected to the unit using Bluetooth and the appropriate apps were working "straight out of the Box".
I was a little surprised at the battery drain of the phone, and I would strongly suggest that adequate provision for charging it is in place when using it for any long journey. A cigarette-lighter to USB adaptor is probably the best way to go for this. Of course this is not a problem with the head unit, rather a feature of the phone!
It was necessary to run the Aux audio cable from the wiring harness to the rear mounted socket in my E60, but this was easily tucked away under the tunnel, making a tidy installation. I also purchased a rear-view camera from Autoabc to complement the display unit. This worked flawlessly first time and is a really useful addition to the car! Just one heatshrink solder connector is needed to connect up the camera power to the head unit, and the RCA video connector needs to be plugged into the harness to complete the wiring connections. The boot/trunk handle mounting is easy to swap over and only needs the lock switch wiring plug to be transferred to the new one, which incorporates the camera.
Overall, I am very pleased with the end result, and it has brought a plethora of new features to the car.
The one comment I would make, and I guess it is a criticism of the Google/Waze map software, rather than of the unit itself, is that it would be nice to have an audible warning when the speed limit is exceeded in addition to the small red visible indicator that the speed has been exceeded.
